Wildpainting workshop in
Nuuksio national park, Finland

The Public School Helsinki, 18 April 2010

Looking deeply at the bark of a birch tree
as a form of text, a unique composition
of this particular tree.

The session started with first drawing only the horizontal lines, then the vertical ones,
and in the end the curved forms.

Inversion painting. Looking for those parts
of the landscape that are most intense in
green and red (or orangeish) and starting
to paint those, but then first in their complementary color.

Thus the intense emerald and pine green became red and the strongest orange of the ferns and reed became green. Later, we switched to applying the "right" colors on top.
